Photologue: Portland Japanese Gardens

Like everyone else in the world these days, I love to take pictures. I know that everyone fancies themselves a photographer, but I am willing to concede that I am a mere hobbyist. That said, during the time that I had access to a legitimate camera last year, I felt like I had my moments of producing some pretty decent stuff. The amount that I learned in a short amount of time working with a DSLR camera was pretty amazing, but it also opened my eyes to how much there is to learn about the art of photography. Thankfully, even a neophyte like me can occasionally pull a few good shots out of their hat. Of course, having amazing subject matter doesn’t hurt at all.

Last year my wife and I were able to visit the stunning Japanese Gardens in Portland. The gardens are one of those little pockets of perfect beauty in the world. Our visit to the gardens took place in the fall, so I would love to return during the spring and summer to see how the garden looks during the different stages of the year. Regardless of what time of year you visit Portland, I would wholeheartedly recommend carving out some time to experience this tranquil oasis within the city.

I am a renaissance nerd. I am an obsessive. Currently, my interests are most focused on things that you can imbibe (wine, beer, spirits), on the world of design and hand lettering, and on soccer (specifically Liverpool Football Club and the Seattle Sounders)
